Are you a Hoarder or Just Messy?

Are you a Hoarder or just messy blog graphic

‘A hoarder saves items that others may view as worthless. They have persistent difficulty getting rid of or parting with possessions, leading to clutter that disrupts their ability to use their living or work spaces.’

I am sure you have seen programmes on tv about extreme hoarders. If you are still reading this then I imagine that this topic resonates with you!

Signs you may be a Hoarder:

Holding onto items without any practical reason to have them. Do you hold onto every book, box and magazine that you buy? It could even be stacks of bills and paperwork.

And when you look at the items do you notice yourself saying ‘I better keep that I may need it someday’

Difficulty parting with items and a sense of overwhelm.

Every item we own has an emotional element to it and is a reminder of a memory or time in our life both happy and sad and every emotion in between.

Sometimes the overwhelm can be the sense of possible loss if you give an item away. There is an element of discomfort stepping out of the comfort zone and the familiar.

And yet sorting through all your stuff can be truly liberating. When you are surrounded by less items it is possible to have a sense of contentment that enhances your physical and emotional wellbeing.

You will become more clear-headed and focussed. There will be space for you to reconnect with your inner self and with dreams and wishes forgotten. Is now the time to rebuild your dreams.

So for today I will leave you with this question to ponder:

What are you ready to let go of that will open up the space for new and better to come into your life?
